Z06 Calipers.

I have a front set of LS1 spindles. Will the Z06 caliper fit these without any modification? Also Is there any difference between the 98-02 rotors on camaros/firebirds and the 97-04 corvette rotors z06 included?

Also what last thing if I wanted to put corvette calipers on the rear what will I need to do?

Thanks

Re: Z06 Calipers.

No, the ZO6 caliper will not fit on LS1 spindles without getting a set of Bob Bishop's C5 brake brackets (which are no longer in production, so u have to find a set for sale from someone) and cutting a mounting tab off the spindle, plus the LS1 rotors are 12" standard vaned rotors while C5's have 13" (12.9" actually) directionally vaned rotors.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

I am thinking the C5 calipers will fit fine without the brackets. If I remember correctly the difference is the rotor. c5 rotor is 13 inch ls1 rotor is 12 inch. If you want to use the c5 rotor you need the brackets. If you want pretty corvette calipers but don't mind using the smaller ls1 rotor I think you are fine. I think you can even use the camaro abundment bracket as long as you get camaro pads instead of corvette ones.

This might be better off posted in the road race/ auto-cross section. Those guys know all the differences in the brake parts that people use on our cars.

To answer some of your questions for sure.......the c5 and Z06 brake parts are all the same except the Z06 calipers are red and the Z06 came with a different/more aggressive brake pad.

Mine will have all the c5 stuff when it comes time for brakes. My Bob Bishop brackets are in my garage

OKay thanks guys. Is there any particular reason why the Bob Bishop brackets aren't in production anymore?

Re: Z06 Calipers.

This is joel from GMR SPEED (formly rathmotorsports). We will have C5 brackets for the f-body very soon. Just working on some final touches on them. Will keep you posted as soon as they are available. Thanks Joel

Also no the C5 wont fit on a ls1 brake setup with the C5 rotor. The only diffrence between the ls1 and C5 is the pistion size.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

Cool keep me updated on you brackets. Hoepfully, they'll be priced pretty reasonable.

So what you're saying is I can run a C5/z06 caliper on the ls1 spindle but I can run the c5/z06 rotor with them. Is this correct?

Re: Z06 Calipers.

I was wondering the same thing.. I have a set of C5 rotors and calipers in my basement, and I was under the impression that LS1 or C5 spindles would work..

Can I get a C5 spindle and forego the whole backet mumbo jumbo?

Re: Z06 Calipers.

LG motorsports has brackets to fit the corvette calipers with C5 rotors to the LS1 spindles/steering knuckle......

Re: Z06 Calipers.

You need the LG brackets, not the Bob Bishop brackets. The BB brackets are for the LT1 spindles only.

Any chance on a set of brackets for the rear brakes? I'd love to use some bigger rotors/calipers on my LT1 car. I already have a set of Bob's brackets for the front.

Incorrect statement!

Bob Bishop's brackets were actually designed to be used for BOTH LT1 and LS1 cars. The only difference is when mounting the brackets, you will cut off 2 mounting ears off the LT1 spindle and 1 mounting ear off the LS1 spindle. The LG brackets simply allow C5/13" rotors to be ran with the stock LS1 caliper and pad abutment bracket. There are differences in both the C5 and LS1 pad abutment brackets, so unless switching both the caliper and pad abutment bracket (well actually ALL front brake parts) to C5 parts with Bob's brackets, you will be running LS1 calipers with 13" rotors with LG's kit, which still makes for a decent setup. If you just want the look of the C5/ZO6 calipers, I would do it the CORRECT way and try to find a set of Bob's brackets somewhere, or touch up your LS1 calipers to look the way you want, or if you just want the look of the 13" rotors (which of course require at least a 17" wheel) you could go with LG's kit.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

So what you're saying is I can run a C5/z06 caliper on the ls1 spindle without the bracket with the LS1 rotor (12"), BUT I can't run the c5/z06 (13") rotor with c5/z06 caliper on the LS1 spindle without the brackets. Is this correct?
