Well, I can tell you that I have all three system (LS1, C5, and LT1) A C5 Caliper might bolt up to the LS1 spindle, but the pads won't be right. I tried putting some C5 pads in LS1 calipers and it didn't fit. The reason is that the C5 caliper/abutment bracket is made for the 12.8" rotor, and the LS1 caliper/abutment bracket is made for the 11.8" rotor. This means that the pads that go in the LS1 caliper and the pads that go in the C5 caliper are slightly different. Mounting a C5 caliper to a LS1 spindle and rotor will put the C5 pads in slightly the wrong place on the LS1 rotor.

If you want the C5 calipers, I think you should search for a set of Bob Bishop brackets, or wait until another design is proven to be safe and work well.

Wrong.....

The vette caliper is pressure cast, not gravity cast. And the C5 caliper has stiffening ribs on the back of the whereas the F body caliper does not. And the obvious differences in finish.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

I converted my 1995 Z28 to LS1 front brakes and was initially pleased with the stopping power. Shortly after the installation, the rotors warped and later cracked. In my opinion the factory front LS1 brakes suck. I now have C5 brakes using Bob Bishop's brackets and they kick ***. Absolutely no comparison. The C5 front brakes are much better than the LS1 front brakes.

I do not know if these are as good as Bob's brackets, but I'd try them before using the LG brackets.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

the guys at LG told me that their brackets were for the entire C5 brakes, not just the rotors...if i had an LS1 and would have bought their brackets i would have been very angry.....

my advise, get the brackets from the above and do the whole set up.
i recommend looking at gmpartsdirect.com for the GM parts, but get the rotors from napa. napa sells the solid C5 rotor for like 25 bucks each.

if you want drilled and slotted, look at gmpartsdirect.com performance page and they have C5 drilled/slotted rotors for $50 each......

i got my calipers & S.S. brakelines used from a guy on Z06vette.com for 75 bucks....just another idea for you.....

Re: Z06 Calipers.

Anyone know if the C6 ZO6 calipers will bolt onto the C5 conversion brackets? I know it's a bit early to know, but it would be nice. I'm going to hold off for now, because I'd like those brakes on my car.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

i havent read anything on them but they look like the same calipers to me. they just have the larger rotor so im sure they just have them mounted differently.

id say they are the same caliper.....maybe someone else can tell you more.

go to a vette forum like Z06vette.com

No. The C6 ZO6 uses six piston calipers.

I know it's not out yet, but I know nonetheless what it uses. And he did say C6 ZO6.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

Yeah, the C6 Z06 uses totally different calipers. The regular C6 calipers look the same as the C5 calipers, but I can't verify that they are identical.

Re: Z06 Calipers.

Yeah the Z06 has 6-piston calipers using individual pads per piston to evenly distribute pressure over one large pad. I'm fairly sure the C6 and C5 brakes are different but probably not by much.
