Talking Juiced Altima Was At Track Last Night...ETs And Kills Inside!!

Went to track last night. Conditions- air was almost perfect (about 50* w/ 10% humidity), track was hooking better than most street nights but not as good as a race day prep, removed spare tire/jack and subs, all runs were made on the factory radial tires (I didn't end up getting a hold of the guy with the DRs that I was supposed to borrow), and I was running a 50 dry shot. NOTE- I had the 80 pill (jet) with me but when I went to go change it out after the first pass I found that I grabbed the wrong size wrenches when I left my house..

It was a street night and as usual, it was slam packed. I only got to make two passes. (Of course I wasn't able to get there until 2hrs after it opened 'cause I was still at work)

1st-

60ft 2.12

1/8 8.78 @ 81.98

1/4 13.69 @ 100.83

2nd-

60ft 2.18

1/8 8.86 @ 82.07

1/4 13.71 @ 101.69

Both runs had some pretty heavy spin/wheelhop, BUT I will admit, the car was moving while it was spinning as shown by the 60ft. My 60s weren't all that bad considering I was spinning pretty bad. But it just makes me wonder what I could have done with DR's. I think the car probably had a 13.4-.5 with some traction.

Anyway, I'll be swapping in the 80 jet today and taking the car to the track Sun (tomm). It's a race day and the track should hook like a champ. With the 80 in I'd like to see a 13.1-.2 at about 106 or so.

Oh yea, kills were- 1st run was against a TC'd S2k. The guy had gone a 13.4 his first pass against someone else. He totally screwed up his run against me so I cleaned his clock. He went a 15.69 @ 89 with a 2.48. Don't know if he was nervous or what??

Second was a mid '90s AWD turbo'd talon with some fairly standard mods. Now, I just HAD to jump the gun a little on this one because I knew he would rape me off the line. We staged up and I can hear him on the rev limiter. I'm like damn, what to do.... So, I improvised 2nd yellow comes down and I purposely red light. He leaves early too, as soon as he sees me leave. I somehow manage to get out about 1-1.5 cars after the wheelhop clears up. It pretty much stayed like that the rest of the way down. We go through with me out about 1.5-2 cars and he runs a 13.84 @ 98.19 to my second run.

All in all a good night! I was fairly happy and but still anxious to see what the car will do with the 80 pill in... Will post results first thing Mon

BTW, my best time NA is in sig. The car is bone stock save for the 50 shot.

Sorry to go semi-off-topic but I rented an Infiniti FX35 this week. It made a TON of power at say 20% throttle but if you went WOT, it's like it was hesitating or just lost all timing advance. Is this a known condition for 3.5 owners? I used 93 octane but I don't know what the previous renter may have put in it. Perhaps it was dialing back timing at WOT due to a long term knock reading?

I would say that's a good possibility. You ARE supposed to run 93 in these 3.5s. I can feel a noticable difference when I put 87 in. I can't afford 93 every time I go to the pump, and it doesn't nessessarily hurt anything, it just doesn't run as strong. But just going by the "seat of the pants" feel in my car, I'd say running 87 would probably drop about .2-.3 at least of a 1/4 ET for example.

If the car you rented has been filled with 87 or a lower octane fuel for the majority of its life, and then on top of that been ran very hard (as most rentals are ), then it's very possible that it's not running in tip top shape.

Another possibility is the rental company having the pcm reprogrammed to react that way so it has a better chance at staying together. I know some rental companies in CA that rent exotics and they do this to some of their cars. I think it sucks !!!

So, back to "on-topic", how much can the transmission stand, particularly once you go to stickier tires? Actually, the axles will probably be the weaker link.

Nitrous definitely is the great equalizer. I would like to see that Altima with a supercharger though.

Nice runs and kills. I was expecting your traps to be a little higher though. A 50 shot only netted you 4mph more. Im gonna install a 100 shot soon on my girlfriends 01 Maxima SE. It should be a nice sleeper. I drive it to pick on the ricer's around here hehe. It ran 14.9's @93mph stock. About to put a custom catback and CAI on before the nitrous to see what it does. I cant believe how big of a crimp the stock catback has about in the middle. I may just stick with a 75 shot until I can get some new injectors. Nissan makes some stout v6's.

P.S. You should try a 100 shot one pass before you get rid of the car, hehe. Would be interesting.
