Re: My Formula VS an S2000

why do people underestimate the F-bod in the twisties so much? My A4 can take pretty steep (maybe 40-50 degree) turns at around 60MPH, which is way more than my ol' Tahoe could have claimed. A couple strut bars later and i'll be in business.

Haven't got it to oversteer yet either, reason being i don't have access to a landing strip, and i'm not about to try on a two lane two direction road.

What do you guys think? Can a RWD car hang with these light, AWD's in the twisties?

Re: My Formula VS an S2000

strut bars dont do much for our cars. "mandatory" upgrades to address our weaknesses from the factory are new shocks and a larger front sway bar. the most important mod, though, is learning how to drive

can we hang with the likes of wrx's in the twisties? depends on the layout of the track; slow speed corners with alot of transitions will favour smaller, more nimble cars. sweeping, high speed corners are where our cars shine.

Re: My Formula VS an S2000

Just because it handles well doesn't make it a road course champion by any means. Ask any road racer and they'll tell you that nothing beats a torquey car for exiting a turn quickly. The Z28's power and torque would more than make up for it's handling deficiency vs. the S2000 on anything other than an autocross course.

the fact that we can stuff 11 inch wide rims with 315 width tires on ALL four corners doesnt hurt, either.

Re: My Formula VS an S2000

Seems like some of you guys never raced a S2000 with some mods. Raced a stock one from a role and put cars on him, it was no compitition. I also raced a modded one from a stop and from a role. The S2000 never left my quarter panel. Not sure if he was running FI but that thing was quick. Just watch out and don't get to cocky.

The problem is I can never get the old dudes driving them to race from a roll...let alone let's try it from a stop.

The cars run decent and are suppossed to handle top notch.

Re: My Formula VS an S2000

A guy around here has one and talked with me, he raced my buddy with a Z3 no problem but wasnt to enthusiastic about racing me and declined. But supposedly he ran his buddy's "13 flat Nova" and beat him good. He has a fart can and an air kit. Either him or his buddy where lying or he gained alot of HP/TQ with 2 bolt ons. I think I'd take an M series Z3 before a 2000, but thats just me.

I cant count how many S/C 5.4's I've seen torn up by VTEC's I cant get them to race either Cantonracer

Re: My Formula VS an S2000

actually, i have raced against and driven modified s2000's and feel that i have a good sense of their capabilities. i had no problem beating an intake/exhaust s2000 from a roll. on the other hand, my business partner owns the s2000 that was used to prototype ultimate racing's turbo kit, which i have driven. it would slay my car (12.6's on street tires), but for what he paid for it, it better! its not the best speed/$ ive ever seen, but i guess different ppl like different sorts of cars.

Re: My Formula VS an S2000

last night my 2 friends, 1 with a honda s2000 and the other with a 94 z28 raced, both are stock, raced from a stop a little short of a quarter mile,

the z28 raced and won bye half a car, raced it again and the honda won bye the same distance.
