The next night we are meeting at a different location. We fill the parking lot and notice a lot of police patrols. Whoever had picked the spot forgot the cross streets were major streets…ie the cops cruise up and down.

We are all gathered inside this place keeping warm when a dirty SUV rolls up. Kid, maybe 23, asks if we want to run for money? We have a 900whp in the group…so we ask for how much? Kid says…let me call my friend…comes back…$4,000.

Jeeeeze, we ask what kind of car. Twin turbo 300ZX….???? Hmmm, we are curious. Some had heard rumors of an orange 300ZX with 550whp all turbo…could this be the Z in question? Dude shows up with the 300ZX….its faded black, we gather around it to check it out…ugly chrome wheels…we pop the hood expecting to see fully polished turbos and intake mani’s only to discover ….its NATURALLY ASPIRATED….we look back inside the tinted windows….ITS AN AUTO….what a let down.

Back to negotiating the money race…we all chuckle at the thought of the 900whp Supra vs. the NA Z on chromes but we stay tight liped. He now notices our smiles and backs down to $500….from $4000….we still smile….he then asks to race any car in the parking lot….we still smile… for $200 we laugh and ask him to pick ANY car in the lot….he picks my friends SRT with 250+whp…my friend gets excited about the thought of an easy $100 and laughs. The guys changes his mind and picks the stock looking CRX…but it has a B16 with 140whp/2000lbs ….we get tired of the games and tell him to lock it up…he does and we leave for the cruise I notice an increase in police presence…hmm I smell sting…I call my buddy to let him know not do anything stupid. He comes back and lets me know he saw 5 cop cars while traveling next to the Z…and the stunna in the Z still wanted to go? “I have a radar detector” --- Undercover most likely complete with sideways hats to “fit in”. My buddies and I say no go and head to the cruise and park.

Its getting late, the cruise is shut down and its freezing. Time to battle…still no STI but it doesn’t matter….my buddy finished his 94 Civic hatch with a B18C1 motor and LSD Tranny…he is dying to race me and is 2-300lbs lighter…I accept of course.

We drive forever and hit the spot. Within 5 minutes I am lined up and my heart is racing…losing to a friend is usually twice as bad because they will never let me live it down. I heat the tires up, like it does any good, but I am ready. Rev and hold 6K….Flagger drops the hands and BAM I dump and spin like hell…limiter hits 3 times and BAM I grab 2nd with a solid chirp and reving to redline….light hits BAM third at full throttle….waiting for the light hoping it hits soon….light…full throttle BAM 4th I am cruising now and I know he is not next to me…but how far back?

I get back to the line and they say 2-3 cars which surprises me but makes me smile as I know he will never ask me “are you scared to run me” lol

Then I watch some other runs with and I am waiting for a 350z run which never happens. My SRT friend has a buddy with an 03 SRT who kills the EG civic I ran and wants me to represent the NA Honda’s….up until now the SRT’s have been just killin cars left and right. My friends 04’ had taken down my friends 04 EVO with exhaust!!!! I accept anyway without hesitation knowing I am a heavy underdog and get focused on the run. I call out for the right lane….I get the right lane.

I pull up….rev to 6K and hold…flagger drops and I dump BAM….screeeech **** I am spinnin limiter hits 3 times….BAM 2nd I am focus on the tach shift light hits and BAM full throttle shift and I chirp 3rd (God I love my clutch) I cant see his car but I know he is there, turbo spooling, hunting me down…when will he pass me?…shift light BAM 4th now I am in it….foot planted…waiting….waiting…110…shut it down and breath a sigh of relief and let out a healthy “Hell Yeah”….I was happy…extactic….3000ft elevation against an SRT….I was hoping to hang…and I won…

I get back and everyone was in disbelief and was giving me credit…I was happy as I looked at the multiple strips of black from the snow tires….195’s…Jeeze…I need tires and some gears to go EVO Hunting lol but the cams are coming as is the AEM standalone….rocking the boosted cars as an underdog is fun…hard…but oh the spoils of victory

I walk away 2-0 and have a newfound love for my car….and a strange desire to spend obscene amounts of money on it…and they say crack is addictive huh

Your civic must be fast as hell, I know those integra R engines work wonders in lighter cars like yours. Bolt up those headers and the rest of the stuff and post some more kills!

If your auto can bust a 14.2-14.4 there you would be right where you should be.....00 vette auto was 14.2's all night so I would imagine....Friends modd'd M6 SS was 13.50's and he can drive the wheels off to kinda give you an idea. My buddy's 99 Cobra went 14.4's for another reference. My slow NA 4 banger went 14.0 But whos counting

anyway, you should try some boost in that motor, put down like 250 or something, thatll be a sick ride

 

At 10psi on stock internals I would make about 325-350whp...fun but I love NA

I will build a monster B series motor or K series first run 11's NA than drop the motor into a lighter chassis for racing and build a boosted motor for this car....2.4L Turbo...500-580whp.....a little turbo lag but roll-ons are going to be fun

Its all money anyway...

 

are you kiddin me? lol... thats sick... ****IN SICK... Im goin to turbo my ls1 1 day. When i start making good money i will. Just so when i get rolled up on by a evos stis and srt4's and they pop their valve ill pop mine right back :P but that would be one hell of a civic if you can do that!
