I think 3000RPM might be a little high for 80mph. I think i do 80 at around 2500 - 2700RPM. And for your gas gadge, it is probably working fine. Usually, the first 1/4 of the gas lasts a long time - 200 miles, then after that, it drops pretty fast. All 4th gens are like that, it has something to do with the way the gas tank is shaped i think. If thats what your refering as the gas gadge problem, then its probably fine.

You should get that checked out. If it's idling rough something isn't right, plus your RPMs are appearently a little high.

I know the dealer sometimes calls me before they fix something. I would take it to the dealer and clearly specify that you want them to call you after they have determined the problem. The dealership I take my car to also charges by the fix not by the hour so they wouldn't charge you to look at it. I don't know if all dealers work this way but my local one does.

Of course. Go to the dealer and tell them what you have noticed and that you want them to call you before they make any repairs. Then when they call see what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix it.

3000 RPMs at 80 is way high.

At 80 it shouldn't be any higher than 2500...that is even a little high I think.

And then tell them no thanks, I'll find another shop to do it for far less.

I really don't like the dealerships...especially for non-warranty work.

Overdrive for the highway. Use D for racing. If you get high enough in the race: put it in OD.
