anyone have a hood?

Re: anyone have a hood?
I've never seen a stock camaro hood without the scoops, at least not for the 93-97 body style. 98+ has no scoops on it, but they won't work for the earlier year 4th generations. I think an SS hood on a V-6 camaro opens you up to a lot of ridicule.

you can take the black plastic grills out, get a dremel and cut away the fiberglass behind the plastic. after that, get some aluminum mesh. Most people use gutter guard for this, its less than 2 dollars at home depot. bend it and shape it to the opening and then attach it. the best way to get it to stay there is most likely going to be fiberglass. although this will make the scoops functional, it's not going to be for any specific purpose other than getting a little outside air into the engine bay. i've never seen a kit that turns them into ram air scoops, and truthfully, it'd be a big kit and would take up a ton of room under the hood if there was one.

you can't just drill the holes in the black plastic, they're nothing more than trim pieces. you can remove the hood liner to expost the scoops (they pop out) I can't remember if they're nuts and bolts or whatever, but you'll see when you get there. pop em out and then the black plastic pops out. get your dremel ready and hack away. be careful...go small and then trim away the excess. you can always take more off, but you can't add back to it. well, you can but it's a lot more work.
As for that, heat extractors usually face backwards, not forward into the wind.

Well, you might get a little extra cool air under the hood slightly lowering engine bay temperatures, but I wouldn't expect too much benefit from it. Nothing other than it looking a little cooler. I've seen it done once and it looked good, wish I could remember where it was that I saw it so I could link you.
