Borla Exhaust (cut-back) PLEASE HELP!
Hello, All.
Here is the situation:
I bought my borla kit from borla's site more then 2 years ago. As far as i can judgge from the posts, it comes with "different" plates... Well... I was very green back then, so I brought the whole box to the mechanics, where they "did" their job.
My questions:
1. What are those plates?
2. How do they look like?
3. Where do you put them?
4. What is the differense in "sound" ?
5. How much do they cost?
6. Is it possible to buy them?
7. How much?
I didn't know anything about "plates"...You think mechanics at the shop could've ****ed me up?
please share with me...
Max.

These plats go inbetween the exhaust piping and the muffler, restricting how much of the exhasut flow enters the muffler. The plate wiht the larger diameter hole allows more exhaust into the muffler, and hence less sound. Consequently, a small diameter plate lets sa small amount of exhaust into the muffler creating more power and sound.
I'm sure if you contact borla you can purchase them. If youre content with your current exhaust tone however, I would leave them alone.

I have no idea, I like my sound, but i want all the power i can get. I don't care about sound, I care about performance Please don't tell me that I needed to buy a v8...I would've:
1. Killed myself
2. Lost my DL forever
but i would get a boner every time i push the gass pedal
p.s. Do i need to remove the muffler in order to see that plate?

Look at a system for a LT1 car and you can see the exhaust laid out. That should give you an understanding. (if you look up a v6 car it wont show an exhaust lay out)

what year is your car? The pre-98 borla systems for V6's were rear section only, so, are you positive that you ordered the cat-back system? You said that you took the box right to the mechanic so since you didn't install it youself, maybe you got a rear section system and didn't know it? Just a thought.

with the 99 it would of came with 4 or five plates, they are triangle in shape and go between the Y and the right tail pipe exit before the muffiler, you will see them when you unscrew that tip and take it off.
