Cool Can I shift a auto?

Hey guys wandering if I can shift my Auto 2000 V6 camaro.
It has a 1 2 D OD and park and stuff. wandering if I can start in one and go into second and slip into drive. Wouldnt do it all the time but whenever I needed a little more advantage of a higher RPM shift. Would it hurt the tranny and would it help that much?

you can you just have to make sure to shift before redline, Most times it is better to leave in drive as long as your flooring it it will shift at the best time and not hurt the trans.

It easier on the tranny if you let the computer do the shifts.

If you want to gain a small advantage put it in 3rd(D) instead of OD off the line.

I used to with my 93 Z28 on the track & then bought a 6 speed 94 Z28 before I broke the 93 trans. Seems to me that a auto trans should mostly be that "Auto" unless it's built to take a beating. Now I have a built up 700R4 in the 88 Iroc Z and can shift it as long as I can take the whiplash since it hits hard

You can/will significantly reduce the number of good days your transmission has left in it by manually shifting it.
