Question Center force Dual Friction Clutch?

Hey i have a 99 v6 Firebird, just put on a dynomax exhaust. Will put on a WS6 hood next month. Plan to do more mods in the future. I just bought a center force dual friction clutch. After talking to some friends they think i need more HP to drive that clutch. Is this true? One friend said i might get a vibration due to the lack of HP. Should i go woth a Centerforce I or II? Thanks for all the help

I've been doing some research on clutches myself lately, and I've never heard of that. Could be something they forgot to mention. The only thing I've heard about aftermarket clutches is that if you get a stiff clutch built for racing, stop and go traffic will be a real b#*ch!! Those things grab like NOW! There's no slipping a racing clutch. The Centerforce clutch is one of the clutches I've been looking into, so if you find out anything let me know. The other one I'm looking into is the LMPerformance SPEC star stage II. The only thing I know is that the Centerforce can handle quite a bit of hp. As far as needing that hp to make the clutch operate, that just sounds crazy. A clutch is a clutch, regardless of how much you have under the hood. It all depends on what you're looking for in terms of...street, daily driver, racing, etc... Let me know if you discover anything on this topic.

I was considering a centerforece clutch back a few months ago when my clutch went out. I talked to a few mechanics and friends and i realized that in terms of a v6 you really don't need anything stronger than a stock clutch. just my 2 cents

As said, you don't really need the clutch. I have one in my SS. It feels about 5 times stiffer than my brother's SS. But you get used to it very quickly. It doesn't chatter one bit and is very smooth, i'm very pleased with it.

The only concern i'd have is what kind of clutch hydralics are in your car. My 99 had to be upgraded to get the car to shift. I dont' know about the sixers.

the centerforce will hold any hp you put into it NA. You can run it just fine, I ran it NA and with a lilttle nitrous for a year, beat the ever living crap out of it , held up great, still does when not in boost....

but under boost...its starting to slip now after 8 or so months of boost.

a spec clutch is in my near future. I want something that will last more than a year like the one I have now. Most of the time, if I'm cruising over 2.5k rpm, i can just push the throttle halfway and it'll just rev.
