Does anyone know if you gut out your cat on a 3.8L if it will sound more throaty or will it get raspy? I know it will get louder but I didnt know if it would change in any other way.

 

Gutting your cat will make your car sound so terrible that Honda guys with fart pipes will laugh at you. Don't even bother with it. It'll net you a wopping 1hp @ the crank @ sea level under ideal conditions.

If you dont want the cat then make sure you replace is with a straight tube becuase it sounds raspy. With a straight tube you should see a few HP specialy if its clogged up, and it will sound a bit louder without sounding like crap

 

gutted sounds like hammered ***...you are basically flowing through a big round can and it echos in it...replace it with straight pipe...

Mine is gutted and it sounds awesome through my CME. It also sounded good through an SS cat back.
