LS1 Swap in 95 3.4L FireBird... Input??
Hey All...
Tranny is out in my 95 3.4L Car and am just gonna swap out the 3.4L for the LS1.
I've already got the LS1 and Automatic Tranny, Harness, Interior Harness, etc. All of this out of a 2000 SS.
Just want to know if you guys have ever seen somebody do this and have anything I should watch out for...
Any Suggestions??
A few things that puzzle me are...
1) How to make the Traction Control Work.
2) SRS - Are the 1st Gen Airbags really that Different from the 2nd Gen Airbags??

I seriously doubt you are going to find the answer to this one on "Advanced Tech"..... I think you would be more likely to find some info on "V6 Tech" or "LS1 Tech"??????
Which one would you like me to move it to?

you need to talk to magnus over at http://www.firebirdv6.com. you got a long road ahead of you. good luck. it would be much more simpler to put in a LT1.

along wiht magnus talk to camarozack. he did the swap as well but both had obdII cars with the 3.8. you do have a long road in front of you all the things you did not think of like the evap system switching gastanks
and lots of little stuff. you will learn alot and have a huge reward at the end.

from what i remember, magnus is the only one to put an LS1 in a what should have been LT1 year car. camarozach put in an LS1 in an LS1 year car. pgriffith put in an LT1 in what should have been LS1 year car.
magnus did have a lot of work to do to get it right. it is soooooo much more easier to put a LS1 in what should be LS1 year car. ie, 2000 V6 should get a LS1 or 95 V6 should get a LT1.

so for a 95 3.4... the ideal swap would be to an LT1? I have been looking into swapping to the LS1, but if the LT1 will go in better that might be the way to go...
My dream as of today is to can the 3.4 put in an LS1 (can this be set up to achieve performance levels of the LS6?), along with the tranny, suspension, and rear end from a SS... I basically want to transform my 3.4 into a 4 seater Vette. has anyone done this that I could talk to? I need a mentor. Am I dreaming?
I work at Cummins Diesel so see a lot of turbos, and have been thinking it would be pretty sweet to Turbo the LS1... I doubt there is a kit, I havent found one yet, but that doesnt mean it hasnt been done... anyone?

as an after thought, would it be cheaper to buy a car that already has the LS1 or LT1 in it already, and then maybe just rebuild that motor?
And then maybe I could concentrate more on that Turbo idea...
dang, now I have mixed emotions on the whole thing.

you are not dreaming. anything is possible. my original plans where to do the LS1 swap and at the same time do the LS6 conversion. i just found myself a little short of cash when the swap time came. the conversion would have only cost $3,000 extra, but i had my kids birthday, my birthday, and my vacation to think about. if you do the LT1 swap you can easily do the LT4 conversion. if you have a 95 but you also have a wrecked 98 in front of you, then swapping all the necessary parts would be cake. a simple transplant.
