so, the mechanic says i have a cracked head...i was thinking about buying a package deal, h/i/c/, for around $2,000.00 BUT even befor i bought my car i planned on putting in an lt1,but wanted to do so after she was paid off, ive looked and seen them for around $4500.00

so...should i just replace the heads and save up for my lt1

You could get a complete LT1 for much less than that, hell you could get an LS1 for 4500 easy. For example...
