Avoid Dalworthington Gardens (DWG)
I drive to a friend's house via Bowen street from time to time... seems to be the DWG PD's primary haunt too. Not uncommon to see a couple of people pulled over on the way too... then on the way back from his house.
Well, they pulled me over last night for my rear license plate frame. Mind you, this is a Vandergriff Chevrolet frame and it's been on the car since I bought it, late '97. I've been pulled over a number of times over the years... a couple of speeding tickets, curious cops looking at the car, "You didn't appear to be using the seat-belt" (I never drive without it on)... stuff like that. In all these years, not a single officer has said anything about the plate frame. No one has ever had an issue with it... till last night.
I was as polite as I could possibly be with the officer, even offered to remove the frame on the spot but it was a no-dice situation. He was hell bent on writing his ticket. So I let him write and vowed to never come back through his neck of the woods again.
Just a warning... if you haven't tossed your plate frames yet, you'll definitely want to before you make a trip through DWG. Always heard rumors about those guys pulling you over for anything and it's not a rumor... they will.
Should be an easy ticket to get dismissed but it's the hassle of the whole thing and the fact that no warnings are being given... "here's your ticket... thank you for the revenue".

I usually drive through there a couple of times a week. Fortunately, no "action" yet. They'll write you up for 1 MPH over. Want to play it safe and go 5 MPH under to avoid a speeding ticket? They'll write you up for travelling too slow.
I wish I was making this up.
I can't wait to see what happens when I pick up an F-body with a nice, throaty exhaust.
