Re: FS or trade: th400

You are the 3rd person I know who has attempted the BBC swap in a 4th gen and did not finish. The others went back to the LT1/LS1 as well. You dont realize how much work it is to change it over until you start the project. I wish you could have finished it. Good luck.

Re: FS or trade: th400

i have been looking at going this route for a while. but i have a couple of question. will the stock a4 cross member work with the turbo 400, and is the out put shaft the same as the 4l60e. and how much shorter or longer is the tranny compared to the 4l60e.

just a few things i need to know thanks.

I don't know..only thing I do know is that the M6 cross member is the only one that works with the th400....other than that you would have to get a manuf. one offered by BMR

You can use a 6-speed cross member. Still have to notch the hole larger though. The output shaft on the TH-400 is much larger that your 4l60e. You will have to get a longer driveshaft with the correct slip yoke. The TH-400 is shorter than the 4l60e. Also.....you will have to find a way to mount your torque arm because the Th-400 does not have provisions for it. I just cut, bent, and welded a bar from sub-frame to sub-frame and then attach a plate to that for the torque arm bracket.

Re: FS or trade: th400

you say you will trade for a t56, if so what all comes with the tranny, stall and flywheel, shifter or what? and do you just need the t56 tranny alone or what
