Getting Dyno'd in Houston

Where is a good place to run on a dyno? Anyone been to MTI? I'm thinking about running down there. I'll have to look up what they charge again...

It's a 2000 Z28 M6 completely stock. I want to get 2 runs, 1 completely stock, and 1 with the MTI clear lid and green high flow filter. Anyone think they can guess what I'll come up with?

there is a dyno day coming up at Conleys but that is on a Mustang brand dyno.. not a dynojet

I would avoid MTI. I dont trust them at all..

I have known too many people that are not happy with them or have been screwed over by them..

On a side note.. I have a friend that has a shop and am wanting to go with a few friends over there to get some dyno runs in..

let me know..

If you're in houston and can't find a good place to get a dyno try Thunder Racing in Baton Rouge LA, from what i hear they're great although it would be a little drive for you (5 hours one way depending on your driving)...

I personally always go to Strictly Performance. Richard does a lot of work on Mustangs, but his dyno work is incredible.

MTI is/was 75.00 plus tax for a simple run, two print outs. Didn't have any problems with them.

My local speed shop recommends Richard's, but I couldn't get ahold of him, at the time.

It is hard to find a killer dyno...a lot of people who have them can't work them. Richard did all the dyno work on my Mustang a few years ago, and found some extra HP and imporved the drivability of the car...even found a couple of vacuum leaks the shop that put the car together missed. I want to try and put something together with him, but I dunno...id need to get some interest in it.

turbochargers.com off 290 (NW Freeway) has a Dynojet. They even have the capabilities to dyno AWD and 4WD vehicles on that dyno. There's another shop opening up around here that will has a mustang dyno and a dynojet dyno. They were talking about getting an engine dyno too. They'll be opening next month sometime.

Horsepower Engineering (HPE) is a great new shop that has a Dynojet and a Mustang dyno. Also, MTI is another shop to dyno at. However, HPE is really making a name for themselves quickly and they also support and are active in the racing scene around Houston. Also, they are a sponsor of this site and many others. They would be a great choice.

I have dynoed at both and they were within 2hp of each other.

Re: Getting Dyno'd in Houston

MTI if has been great for me I don't know what the guy above was talking about scewing people over? But HPE is another one and Slaters has the latest version for the Dynojet, and all dynos are going to be different so pick one and use it for comparing before and after mods make sure you check your tire presure so you can go back each time with the same presure etc to get accurate readings. After all dynos are just tunning tools they really don't mean anything until you hit the track. Good luck!
