Post Kim Barr Racing Engines

There was a guy (Black95 form) that posted on here last week about a man named Kim Barr that built him a 355. I want to know the contact info for this guy and hi shop. Can anyone help me out?

I have not been on the board for a while. If I can answer any questions let me know. The phone number listed is correct. He does awesome work.

SLP223: You said that you had him build you a 383: What's your current setup engine wise? (top and bottom end)

Black95form: How much did he charge you for labor? (or the hourly rate) Did you pick the parts to use yourself, or did he buy/recommend parts for you?

I did my engine in stages through out the winter. I dont remember the figures exactly, but if you call him he will quote for the whole thing or in stages like I did it. I purchased all the parts myself. He did the machine work, balancing and blueprinting, and the short block assembly. He was very helpful in parts selection.

I got in on the nutek stroker gp and got callies dragon slayer crank, eagle 6 inch rods, jesrp forged pistons. I also have all new bearings and a comp 306 cam. The heads are ported stock with 2.02/1.60 valves they flowed 286,199@.600. I was at first just going to have in maching the block and assemble the short block but I was BSing with him and he said he would put the rest of it together heads intake set rockers so i whent ahead and had him do it. The car has only been back on the road for a few days I am still working out bugs I am pretty sure the rearmain seal is in some way messed up. because I am leaking a lot of oil out the back.

One last question: Do you have to find the block yourself or does he find one for you? (If you get a new block) What time does he close? (I don't get home until 6:30PM)

I used my block. he closes between 7 and 7:30 depending on what he has to finish. If you are looking for a block I know a guy with a short block for sale cheap.

I just need a "base" 350 block to have overbored. I'm buying all of the parts myself, its more expensive but I only want the best. If he can just sell me the block itself (no rods, crank, etc.) I'd be interested as long as it costs no more than $400. (I have another offer for that amount as the HIGHEST)
