Re: Tilt steering loose
i wonder if that would be hard to fix on your own? did they say what it was?
the car i drive at work sometimes slips from the locked position, but it's not loose. my car hasn't had any problems yet.

DV, I know how you feel. My '79 still needs to be fixed. It hangs down about a 1/2" and when I try to turn it sounds the horn. So I have the horn-delete modification going right now. But, I don't drive it yet either, so.
I know there is a guy outside the Pick-N-Pull with a box van that re-keys and fixes anything to do with steering and ignition - on the spot deal. Thought about going to him but, you kinda have to wonder about the workmanship from someone who sets up shop outside the junkyard?!?
If you can explain in more detail, we might be able to give you some clues. Is this an Air-bag car we're talking about? If so, count my out, haven't dealt with air-bags yet.
If it's a column problem, there is usually a loose firewall mount bolt, or a spring inside the steering wheel, used for the tilt. But, you have to get around the air-bag to get to that.
