heh people telling you about each city is nice, but I wouldnt base your choice on where you're gonna live just on what we say. your best bet would be to fly/drive out here and have a look around for yourself

i live about 30 or 40 mins south of waco, its a pretty cool town. like vince said i would prefer to live in the country as opposed to any city. but waco has a small town feel to it with the benifit of the 24 hour stores ect...
waco also has some really nice surrounding communities, some border the city, some are out a few miles but i would live there.
if you decide to move the tx let me know, i should have my realty license in feb. so i could help you find a house, and possible get that whapping 1.5% commission. i can work anywhere in the state so i may be able to help you in these other areas also.

You probably need to decide if you want small town, big city or something in between. Both have their advantages. I like Houston, but ultimately I would like to live in Spring or Conroe (about 20 min north of Houston). If you like boats or wakeboarding Conroe is the place to be. Your still within commuting distance, but don't have to live with all the hassles of the city.
Just like everyone else, I thohght austin was the coolest town on earth. It has prety much everything. After living in Houston for a couple years I've found they have a lot of the same stuff (live music, mountain bike trails, etc) but it's not advertised like it is in Austin, I had to live here for a couple of years before I learned where everything was. in austin you can live there a week and know where to go for what.

if your thinking waco then i would suggest get a tx map find waco, then look west to mcgregor and crowford, north to about hillsboro south to around temple, east to mexia or groesbeck. that will be about a 45 min to an hour circle around waco. most all our driving around here is open hwy so you really dont have any traffic.
but like doug said the temple, killeen area isnt to bad either, then you also have bryan/college station. these are all smaller cities, i'm not too familiar with the larger cities. i live about 45 mins south of waco so i know more about that area. actually the marlin area(really has nothing to offer but location) is 30 mins to an hour from waco temple and bryan.
