Will headers last here in Texas if they are not Jet-coated?
I have been driving myself crazy trying to buy headers. I want to buy either Hooker Lt's or Shorties that are Jet-coated. The only problem is that when I call Jet-Hot they have neither in stock and it will take at least 2 weeks to get here. I am out a car right now and can not afford to be without a car starting next week.
So leaves me to my question. If I buy headers that are not coated how long would I have before they rusted away? What about using the heat tape for right now? Any suggestions? Im in a tight spot. Thanks Nathan

I've had mine on for a year and before that, some other guy had them on his car for a while here too. Mine are uncoated and, other than getting hotter than a **** in 5 seconds, are perfectly fine. I think the heat will burn off the water, plus hookers are made from good steel so they will prolly outlast most of your car.

mine arent coated, they get ugly quick but if it isnt a show car save you the money and get em uncoated...I havnt seen a diff in performance...I have driven cars with both uncoated and coated with similar kind of mods/engines....no diff whatsoever...IMO coating is overrated like most "bling bling" junk you see on high perf car parts nowadays

Yes they will last. A friend in Waco has uncoated TES on his Monte that have been on there for 5yrs I believe and no problems. Granted they don't look as nice as my Jet-Hot coated ones but they last just fine.

Can you prove the temp theory? Has anyone actually measured the temps under the hoods of two cars with uncoated and coated....I am sure it makes a SLIGHT difference...but I would like to see ACTUAL NUMBERS that can justify the expenditure...

I still will argue though that the coating does help on the heat and we can prove by seeing which ones cool off faster!!
