1997 Camaro Z28- rim/tire set up
I need a good rear rims and tires set up for Drag racing with my 1997 camaro z28. Any suggestions? I was thinking 15x10. Anyway, where should I get them? Need to know backspacing. I believe the bolt pattern is 5x4.75
I could even go bigger than 15, but I figured the fattest and widest with no modifications. And i was gearing towards slicks (ive got a 12bolt moser rear end 4.11 gears, and a spohn torque arm with safety look.) although I heard drag radials are good too. But not sure. any suggestions would be helpful. thanks

For drag racing, depending on your budget, you can't go wrong with a set of weld wheels. Draglites or Prostars look nice imo and price is very reasonable. 15x10 you will need a 7.5" backspacing. You're right on the bolt pattern.

Did you check the Drag Wheel & Tire FAQ at the top of the page?

Ok, thank you. I checked out above FAQ thread. It did mention 7.50 backspacing, but then another reply indicated 7.0 backspacing. looks like I got to grind the caliper fins for 15x10. So for my rear end set up, should I go drag radial tires or slicks?

Re: 1997 Camaro Z28- rim/tire set up
So im leanin towards slicks vs drag radials for drag racing. If i do prostar weld 15x10 rims, will i need spacers? Also i have 18" with sunny tires in the front. Will this work for drag or should i invest in prostar skinnies for the front for drag?

Ok, so I'm looking into cost of bogart wheels due to the fact that if I use weld skinnies, i'll need a spacer and longer studs, but I swap my racing wheels to my street wheels when not racing, so this would pose a problem.
I heard that Centerline 15x4 rims for front might work without longer studs/ spacers. Any one have any experience with this?

I used the Weld Pro-Star 15x10, and they are available in 7.5" BS. The other person used the Alum-Star 15x10, and they are available in 7.0" BS.
The photo below shows the results with the Pro-Star 7.5" backspacing. Using the 7.0" BS will move the tire 1/2" outwards. It will still be mostly under the fender.
I use extended studs front and rear. When I bolt on my street wheels (ZR1/GS replicas) the studs stick out too far. I minimized the problem in the back by using a "double lug" and drilling the closed end open and threading it:
But the front is still a problem, because the back is 1/2"-20 and the double lugs are available. I never found a double 12mm lug for the front.

Re: 1997 Camaro Z28- rim/tire set up
Thanks everyone for their help. I ended up ordering 15x4 centerlines for front, and 15x8.5 for back. I'll upload pics and let you know of any clearance problems. According the gmhightechperformance, they used they used these rims without needing any spacers or longer studs which is what i'm looking for. I would've liked to go 15x10 in the back but the centerline rims don't come with a 7" or 7.5" backspace. The welds do, but then they won't match the front. Or if I go welds in the front, i would need longer studs, which would effect my swap out for street rims when not at the track.

I think Centerline makes a 15x9.5 AutoDrag that fits correctly. A friend of mine had them on his 99 SS:
Yes, the advantage of the AutoDrags is they fit without modifications.
