Please post pics of 315s on the front
I have a set of 17x11 AFS ZR1s with a 50mm offset ready to go on. I'm trying to decide whether to go with 275s up front and 315s in the back or just put 315s all around. I'm leaning toward the 315s the the obvious handling benefits, but don't want them to stick out past the fenders and look dumb.
Can those of you with 315s on a 50mm offset please post some pics? If it's on a Camaro, that would be even better.

315's are awfully beefy up front. it will be heavy, and you probably wont be able to turn very tightly. i drove a 99 ws6 and the stock 275's (17x9 rim) rubbed the inner fender when you turn the wheel all the way.

315 fit in the rear, but if you like turning they dont fit in the front.
and if your just going 285's put them on a 17" x 9" wheel.
and remember the larger the wheel the slower you are.
IMO I wouldnt go wider then a 17x9 and 27540R17 on the front, 17"x11" with 315 35R17 would be nice in the rear
Oh and a cheap wide tire is going to give you way worse traction then a good narrower one. So if you only have 150 a tire after the wheels then go for the 17x9's so you can put some good rubber on there.

I wouldn't want to daily drive with 315's on the front. But I do like them at the track:

Those are 36.5mm (ZR-1) offset. More pics in the sig.

Those are very big shoes to fill.
I saw SIGNIFICANT reduction in laptimes (1:29 to 1:27 at MSR) when I went just to 315s on the front.
It does kill hubs, though ...

Re: Please post pics of 315s on the front
Ive seen pics of 285's on an 11 inch rim and they look better in my opinion... let me put it this way the 335's on the viper are13.2" wide and set on a 13"wheel... those look really good. The 285's are 11.2" wide and Im setting them on an 11" wide rim, should look similar minus 2 inches plus the tires im getting have a rim gaurd... not to mention there are more choices and much less expensive tires in the 285's and its more practical for street driving... just my idea though...

If you are mainly a "handling" kind of guy, then 315s up front are a good idea. My car is a daily driver, and sees the drag strip as much as it sees the autocross (and never has seen a road course)...otherwise, I'd have 315s up front on mine for sure...

That said, what are the drawbacks of 315s on the front other than wear on the hubs. Do they rub? I'm at stock ride height. I'd rather grind the spindle to get them to fit rather than run a spacer. Is that even possible?
BTW, the Sumitomos may be cheap, but they're great tires.

What tires befor and after?
I saw a SIGNIFICANT difference on my first SS when I went from stock bald Compt Ta's to Firehawks.
Tires are more important then an 2" of width.

I'm well aware tire compound can be more important than a couple of inches of extra tread width, but if we're comparing the SAME brand and model of tire in two different sizes, the wider tire will always give more grip than the smaller tire. That's why autocrossers and road racers who run R-compound tires, the stickiest rubber out there period, always recommend using 315s all around.
