245/50 R16 is what you'll want to go with. I heavily recommend Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position tires, those are what we have on the Z28.
I've seen 275/50 R16 tires on stock wheels, but the ratio isn't going to be right (I don't think), and I remember it looking like the tires were bulging off the rims. I thought I had pictures saved, and sure enough I have a folder for the images... but I have the wrong images in the folder. No luck. The car was a silver convertible on ebay in October 2010 I'm pretty sure...
If you want to upsize, go on tirerack, and see how many times the tire rolls in a mile. To not mess with your sensors, the tire needs to be similar to what is stock. I think the revs per mile is the biggest deal, but other people may have other suggestions.
Ex:
Potenza Pole Positions do 811 revolutions per mile http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....8&autoModClar=
So if you want 255s, you need to find out which 255 tire size (255/35, 255/40, 255/45, 255/50, or 255/55) is going to be around 811 revolutions per mile. These 255/50 do 799 rev per mile, so they'd probably be fine. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes you just want to get close to what is stock.

Re: thinking of up grading tire size
We actually have a "Wheels and Tires" forum for topics like this. Let's move the post there.
The 255/50-16 would be a close diameter replacement for your stock tires, requiring no speedo correction (approx 1/2% error). The 245/50-16 would cause a 2% error. A 275/50-16 (if anyone makes such a size - I've never seen one) would be more than 1.6" too large in diameter.
