Widest Tires?

Re: Widest Tires?
Corvette rims bolt right up, I have the 17" &18" combo 245/45/17 fronts
and 275/40/18"s out back. Just check the offset. 56mm is prefered.Correct me if Im wrong. You cna go as high as 315"s in the rear with some major inner fender beating and fender lip rolling. Do a search it has been discussed a lot and a lot of guys here are running big tires and rims.

Re: Widest Tires?
Not sure what "275/40/18" means other then I think the "18" means 18" rims... I just want the widest tire possible from left to right because I freakin love the way wide tires look... freakin insane.
Can someone explain to me what the "275/40/18" stands for?

275--width of tires
40--how tall the tires are
18--size of rim it fits

Re: Widest Tires?
I'm running 315/35-17's on the rear as well. There is at least one guy in SoCal running 335/30-17's all the way around...takes special offset rims and a bit of massaging. 315's are the widest I'd go and even then there is a bit of inner fender work you should do to keep them properly clearanced. AFS sells SS style rims with the correct offset and there's nothing a 3lb sledgehammer can't fit!

Re: Widest Tires?
My car is lowered and has gfx so you don't really see the tires but here is a picture of my 315's on a 12 bolt prior to instalation to give you an idea of tire to axel comparisons.

the tires are 12.5 inches wide and are on 11" zr1 vette rims
The major downside is cost - good tires and nice rims will set you back a pocketfull of coin. Traction is a better but front tracking is harder with wider tires.
a few folks here have 315's all round and a couple have 335's in the rear.
